How It All Started
Becharof Rapids Camp started in 2005 with 6 clients as a result of a chance boat trip up the Egegik River. Being a commercial salmon fisherman I was immediately struck by the remoteness, beauty and the shear volume of fish that migrate up the Egegik river each year. After that trip I knew I had to find a way to "make camp" and begin sharing this natural wonder with other outdoor adventure and fishing enthusiasts!
Remote AND Comfortable
Our location on the Becharof Wildlife Refuge limits how and what we can build. That being said, we've worked hard to make sure you have all the comforts of home so you never feel like you are roughing it. Our lodging accommodates 14 guests total. Two people per cabin. We have a large fully equipped kitchen, freezers for fish and food storage, hot and cold running water, bathroom and showers and a mud room to dry your boots and gear out at the end of the day.
Camp Life
We are a relaxed camp with a family type atmosphere. Everyone is just interested in having fun and catching a bunch of fish. After dinner (or anytime you feel like it) take advantage of our community room to watch a movie or just chill.
As you might have guessed, cell service is non-existent at camp. But we have a Satellite phone for emergency use.
Value
There are a lot of fishing lodge choices around King Salmon. Package rates for most other lodges start at around $6,000 and go up to as much as $10,000. Not only have we been able to keep our packages affordable, we think your fishing experience can't be matched anywhere else in Southwest Alaska.
I guess the number of guests that keep coming back year-after-year indicates we must be doing something right.
We invite you to come adventure with us and hopefully become part of our little family at Becharof Rapids Camp!
