Privacy & Security
Becharof Rapids Camp ("we," "us," or "our") operates this website and our Egegik River fishing lodge in Bristol Bay, Alaska. This page explains what information we collect when you visit our site or book a trip with us, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We've kept it in plain language — if anything is unclear, reach out and we're happy to explain further.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
When you contact us or book a trip — by phone, email, or through a form on this site — we may collect your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, travel dates, number of guests in your party, and any details you share about your trip (fishing preferences, dietary needs, or special requests).
Payment information
When you pay a deposit or balance for your trip, your payment is processed through a secure, third-party payment processor. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers — the processor handles that transaction directly under its own security standards (see Payment Security below).
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, time on site, general location (city/region level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at our site (e.g., search engine or referral link). This is aggregated, anonymized traffic data used to improve the site; it is not tied to your name or contact details.
Cookies
Google Analytics uses cookies — small files stored in your browser — to recognize repeat visits and compile these usage statistics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time; doing so won't affect your ability to browse the site, though some features may work less smoothly.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries and process trip bookings and deposits
- Coordinate your travel, lodging, meals, and guided fishing itinerary
- Communicate with you before, during, and after your trip
- Improve our website and understand what visitors are looking for
- Meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements
3. Who We Share Information With
We share information only as needed to run your trip and our business:
Payment Processor
To securely handle deposits, final balances, and transaction verification.
Camp Staff & Guides
To plan your daily fishing itinerary, custom meal requirements, and cabin setups.
Infrastructure Providers
Service providers who help us operate the site or business (e.g., web hosting), under obligations to keep your information confidential.
Legal Compliance
Legal authorities, only if strictly required by state or federal law.
4. Payment Security
All online payments are handled by a PCI-compliant, third-party payment processor using encrypted (SSL/TLS) connections. Becharof Rapids Camp never sees or stores your complete card number. If you'd rather arrange payment by phone, check, or wire transfer, just let us know when you book.
5. How We Protect Your Info
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold, including secure website hosting, restricted access to booking and contact records, and working only with reputable, security-conscious service providers. That said, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We keep booking and contact information for as long as needed to fulfill your trip, meet our legal and tax obligations, and maintain accurate business records — after which it is deleted or archived securely.
7. Your Choices
You can at any time:
To make any of these requests, contact us using the information below.
8. Children's Privacy
Our website is intended for adults planning fishing trips. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children online. Information about minors traveling as part of a booked group (e.g., a name and age for trip planning) is collected only from a parent or guardian as part of the booking process.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this page from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision.
